It looks as though i borrowed a time machine and stole it from 1982. It has been fully stripped down and rebuilt.
It has custom built stainless steel lever springs. It has two new heating elements. The glass and seals in the hotel group are new.The boiler and pipework have all been descaled and cleaned thoroughly. The frame has been rust treated and painted. New piston and group seals...
Even the pressure stat has been colour coded in the same red paint. If you don't know how amazing these lever groups are, have a google. Easy to maintain and easy to use. But most of all, the finest espresso in the world. The glass pot on the front is called a hotel or reserve group. It is basically a big filter pot for making 2.5 litres of black coffee for Americanos and such... I prefer the idea of using it for herbal tea with hibiscus or chamomile flowers floating in it.
These units were very expensive new but rarely get restored due to lack of seals and glass. I had seals and glass made just for this machine. I think the hotel group really looks the part and i would like to see these back in use.
The gentleman i bought this machine from bought it second hand in the 1990's and used it for 24 years. It must have made millions of coffees in his busy london cafe on the southbank and shows no signs of wear and tear. These machines were built to last longer than a lifetime.
